If you’re a young, aspiring screenwriter, you’ve probably pounced on any screenwriting agent or manager accepting unsolicited screenplays. You leap onto the first chance you get to show off your work in the hopes of getting recognized and finally breaking into the film industry. A similar scenario is when a hopeful new screenwriter submits their first script ever to some of the best screenplay contests without the blink of an eye, dreaming of winning that coveted prize. It’s understandable for aspiring writers to have an optimistic outlook but there many traps they can fall into when it comes to submitting scripts.
About the reno-tahoe screenplay contest
The Reno-Tahoe Screenplay Contest is now accepting submissions for its seasonal competition.
All entries receive top-tier analysis through our film finance and script development partners at the Screenplay Awards Network.
The winner of the short script contest will get their script optioned and produced (a value of up to $20,000)* and the winners of the feature and TV pilot categories will get a proof-of-concept scene from their script produced by our partner Mad Wife Productions.
Unlike other competitions, our winners also work side by side with producers to develop their work and push the screenwriter closer to production.
Our goal is not only to find the best scripts possible, but to provide resources that edify creators from Nevada and across the globe, and bring them to the forefront of our rapidly growing film community.
*The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and is not redeemable for cash or other prizes.
